Mark is the host of “The Mark Reardon Show” and “Total Information PM” on KMOX from 2 – 5 p.m. every week day. A Chicago native, he moved to St. Louis in 1979 and quickly became a Cardinals fan for life after the 1982 World Series. Mark started in radio when he was just 15 years old, and his answer to the most important question in St. Louis is: Parkway West, class of 1983. After graduating from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, Mark spent the following 10 years in radio and TV in Columbia, Missouri. His other radio gigs include stops at the former KSD-AM in St. Louis, WTMJ in Milwaukee and WGN in Chicago. He is a film fanatic and has been a long-time film critic. Mark is a member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA), and his reviews are heard on KMOX, BXR radio in Columbia, Missouri, and "Great Day St. Louis" on KMOV channel 4. He's also a member of the Broadcast Journalist Television Association (BJTA). Mark is an avid cyclist, fisherman, hunter and is passionate about music — especially Bruce Springsteen. Mark is married and has three children, three dogs, three cats — and a very powerful vacuum.
Quick Questions with Mark Favorite restaurant? Lately I’ve been particularly fond of SugarFire since they have a location in Fenton! But I love Eleven Eleven Mississippi, Sidney Street Café, Peacemaker, Pastaria -- and my favorite South City restaurant/bar is The Haven.
Favorite St. Louis attraction? Busch Stadium, any day there’s a Cardinals game. I mean, duh.
Favorite music? At my core, I’m a classic rock (Springsteen, Petty, Led Zeppelin, etc.) and power-pop (Cheap Trick) guy, but I listen to all types of music. A lot of alternative rock and even country. I probably go to about 40-50 live shows a year -- everything from smaller venues like the Duck Room and The Old Rock House, to the big Scottrade shows.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? New Zealand/Australia -- I’ve always had a fascination with that part of the world. But I’m always most relaxed in Door County, Wisc., which is a regular Reardon family vacation spot.
Person who made the most impact on you? My wife, Rebecca. Just the fact that she puts up with me is pretty impactful.
If you could only keep three possessions, what would they be? Bruce Springsteen “The River” Bruce Springsteen “Born to Run” Bruce Springsteen “Darkness on the Edge of Town”
If you're not at work, you’re probably doing what? Changing a diaper, since at the age of 50 in 2015 I became a father again to a beautiful baby girl, Alexa Lynn Reardon.
If you won the lottery, what would you do? I certainly wouldn’t be answering questions like this since I wouldn’t be working at KMOX anymore.
If you could interview one person, who would that be? There’s a bit of a theme running here … Bruce Springsteen. He’s a hero, and despite our political differences, I think it would be a pretty cool conversation. I’ve interviewed five other members of the E Street Band, but never Bruce, himself.
What is your strongest personal quality? My dashing good looks and warm personality??? Stop laughing.
