ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - You may have heard this already, but these Saint Louis University Billikens are for real and now we know for sure it's not just local pride pushing that message.
This squad has already been ranked No. 36 in the country by NCAA insider Andy Katz and now CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein is jumping on the Billikens bandwagon.
"I think Saint Louis has a chance to be the best non-power conference team in college basketball," Rothstein said on the Radio.com You Better You Bet podcast.
This team is returning eight of it's top nine scorers from last season, including three All-Conference players in Jordan Goodwin, Hasahn French and Javonte Perkins.
The latter is expected to compete for the A-10 Player of the Year award this season after he set a SLU record with 18.2 points-per-game in A-10 play last year.
Head coach Travis Ford begins his fifth season at SLU – 24th in his college career – and has one of the best teams he's ever put on the floor. He joined our Tom Ackerman on Sports on a Sunday Morning, before SLU's season begins on Wednesday against SIUE.
