You stocked up for the pandemic, now it's time to prepare for the worst

Thursday is the Great Shake-Out, a day to prep for potential earthquakes.

ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - At the start of the pandemic, many of us loaded our pantries with extra supplies. Are you still ready for the worst-cast scenario?

Thursday is the Great Shake Out -- a day to prepare if an earthquake devastates our region.

Mary Jane Thomsen, Executive Director of the Greater St. Louis Chapter of the American Red Cross says we all need to be ready to shelter in place. Thompson says that means storing enough food and water for two weeks.

How to prepare for emergencies

Thompson add you should have a kit with three days of supplies ready to go in case you need to evacuate your home quickly.

Some items to include in your kit besides food and water include medicines, toiletries, a flashlight, a hand-crank radio, and a multi-tool.
