ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - How much is a sack on Monday Night Football worth? To a St. Louis area insurance agent, it's a cool one million dollars.
As Monday night's NFL game between the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams was nearing its conclusion, Rob Huntze was sitting atop the DraftKings standings, alone. A position worth $1 million.
"There's a little bit of time left," says Huntze, "but you're like 'Oh my God!' You know, I'm at the precipice. My dog thinks I'm possessed. I'm racing around, standing up watching the last 10 minutes or whatever it is."
When the final gun sounded, it looked like he was a millionaire.
"I had to take the dog out. I'm like, 'I need to clear my head, and just think about this,'" Huntze says he even called his parents. "I told them I'm giving them money."
But knowing that the standings can change even after the game is over, Huntze kept refreshing his phone.
"Then boom, it moved," he says. "I let out a guttural scream outside, like no! So, I panicked, disbelief again. I'm looking to see where my name is, 'did I go to second? Am I going to win a hundred grand?'"
Thanks to a scoring change, that turned a Bears' sack into a running play, Huntze had fallen into sixth place, tied with 18 others. That reduced his winnings from $1,000,000 million to just $3,000.
Despite the expensive scoring change, Huntze is taking it in stride.
"It never got to the point where I had it long enough where it got taken away," he says. "So, I'm O.K."
