3 dead after pickups collide in southeast Kansas

Three people are dead after the firey, head-on collision of two pickup trucks in southeast Kansas. The Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred Monday evening a mile west of the US 400 and Kansas Highway 39 junction in Wilson County. The Patrol says one of the pickups crossed the center line and hit the other truck head-on, both vehicles catching fire.

KHP identifies the dead as 40-year-old Curtis Wilkins of Cambridge, Kan., 39-year-old Tiffany Bekemeier of Aurora, Mo., and 18-year-old Randy Carlisle of Aurora, Mo.  KHP says it's unknown if the three were wearing seatbelts. All were pronounced dead at the scene.
