More lay-offs are affecting workers in the Wichita area. The Sherwin-Williams manufacturing plant in Andover announced on Friday they will be laying off twenty-four workers.
KSN News reports the Machinists Union says the two week notices came as a surprise. Friday, Jan. 31, will be the last day for those who are affected by the layoff.
The United Way of the Plains says they will provide transition assistance for those in-need.
“We want to be there to be able and help when things really get tight for them and it gets into a serious situation when they’re looking at maybe their rent payment or their mortgage payment or their utilities,” said President and CEO at United Way of the Plains, Pat Hanrahan.
