Wichita has seen 55 homicides in 2020, a 49% increase from 2019. The city is approaching the record of 57 set in 1993 during the crack epidemic.

During the COVID-19 lockdowns in April, Wichita saw an 89% increase in homicides compared to the previous April. By November that percentage had dropped to 43%.

Wichita Police say this year 43% of the victims from firearms were under the age of 24.

Police officials say as the pandemic dies down, they expect crime to drop as well.

Police ask for you to call them if you have any information that can help solve the unsolved homicides of 2020.
