An 8-month-old German shepherd rescued by authorities in July after she was dragged behind a moving pickup truck is on the mend.

According to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, Beauty suffered serious abrasions to her paws and abdomen from the incident, and an animal cruelty investigation was opened. Residents reported seeing her dragged and then left for dead on the road.

Although witnesses yelled for the truck to stop, the driver continued on. When the driver was eventually stopped by a deputy, she agreed to take the dog to a veterinary hospital but instead left the dog behind.

John Welsh with Riverside County Animal Services says anyone who wants to adopt Beauty has to go to the Riverside County Animal Services office in Jurupa Valley.
