Small Plane Crash Reported Near Van Nuys Airport

There have been reports of a small plane crash right by Van Nuys airport Friday afternoon.

Two people have been killed in the crash of a small plane right by Van Nuys Airport in a parking lot near Havenhurst and Hart.

The plane crashed into a parking lot between two buildings

The single-engine Cessna went down in a parking lot right by the corner of Havenhurst and Hart.  That's just west of the airport's main runway.

LA City Fire spokesperson Nicholas Prange told KNX 1070 News a plane was down at 3:04 p.m.

He said there was a fire problem when they arrived and which was extinguished, and two victims were found dead on the scene.

Los Angeles Fire says no structures were damaged. 

There's no word on the fate of the pilot but the plane was very badly damaged in the crash.
