(KNX 1070) - A plan to cut back and chop down thousands of trees to prevent wildfires isn’t sitting well with a lot of people in La Cañada Flintridge.

SoCal Edison is making big plans to reduce the chances of fire ignition in high-risk areas such as La Cañada Flintridge.

But an arborist and some residents fear such extreme pruning could imperil the health of certain tree species.

Resident have been warned however that public safety trumps standard operating procedures.

The proposal will cost more than $118 million.
