'Modern Family' Star Ariel Winter Ditches Dark Hair After Show Wraps


As “Modern Family” is gearing up for its final bow, Ariel Winter is ready to change it up.

The actress, who began her role as Alex Dunphy when she was just 11 years old, sported dark brunette hair for the show’s 11-year run, reported Yahoo! Lifestyle.

Winter recently dyed her hair back to a bright red shade. The actress shared several snaps of the the vibrant new 'do in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

“I’m a strawberry and a shortcake sooooo new nickname?🍓🍰🥰🤓,” Winter captioned the post.

In the spirit of a proper farewell, Winter shared a video and several photos of herself with her old dark-haired look. She captioned the post, “bye bye dark hair :) I don’t think I’ll miss you :)))”

This isn't the first time Winter has sported a red hue. In February, she posted photos of herself rocking loose, wavy, orange-reddish locks.

"🙃can’t wait to get back to this hair color🙃," she captioned the photos.

As the "Modern Family" cast and crew filmed the series finale on Friday, February 20, they shared the emotional and bittersweet goodbyes on social media with fans.

The show’s co-creator, Steve Levitan, posted a video of the entire cast and crew waving goodbye.

“Today is our last day shooting #modernfamily,” he captioned the clip. “These are just some of the wonderful people who’ve made the last 11 seasons possible. I love them all. 😢.”

The ABC series premiered in 2009 and was welcomed with open arms. It won five Emmys.

“Modern Family” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC. The series finale will air April 8, 2020.
