Elliot Page and Emma Portner are splitting up after three years of marriage.
Page, 33, and Portner, 26, released a joint statement confirming the divorce and disclosing they actually first separated last year.
"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer," read the statement, according to People. "We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends."
In January 2018, Page first announced the marriage by sharing a photo of the couple’s wedding bands.
"Can't believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife," Page captioned the pic.
The divorce news comes less than two month since “The Umbrella Academy” star publicly came out as a transgender man in an emotional social media post.
“I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self,” Page wrote. “I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community.”
He added: “I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.”
Portner, who is a dancer and choreographer, showed support for Page by re-sharing his statement with the caption: "I am so proud of @elliotpage. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world."
Since coming out, Page has expressed gratitude for all the kind words he has received from friends and fans.
"From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” Page wrote. “Your love and support has been the greatest gift. Stay safe. Be there for each other.”
