Ventura County is now facing a wrongful death lawsuit filed on behalf of the son of "Glee" actress Naya Rivera, who drowned in Lake Piru last summer.

The lawsuit alleges the pontoon boat that Rivera rented from the county's Parks and Recreation Management did not have a ladder and other safety equipment on board.

It claims Rivera went for a swim with her 4-year-old son but got separated from the boat when the wind carried it away and was unable to save herself.

The complaint disputes media accounts that she boosted her son back onto the boat, saying she likely didn't know he made it back to the boat safely.

A medical examiner's report indicated Rivera had alcohol and prescription drugs in her system when she drowned.
