DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - You'll want to be careful walking and driving in Dallas today, because electric bikes will be hitting the streets.
The company JUMP, which is owned by Uber, will roll out the red bikes on street corners and sidewalks throughout the city.
JUMP plans to bring 2,000 stationless e-bikes to town as well as 2,000 JUMP-branded electric scooters.
The bicycles will have a top speed of 20 miles per hour, so don't expect to be whipping around. It'll cost $1 for the first 5 minutes and 15 cents for every additional minute.
The bikes will have stiff competition as the very popular scooters, will still be a very strong presence in Dallas.
Over the last five months, Lime scooters for instance has reported more than a half million rentals.
