Police in Austin have identified the armed protestor who was shot and killed during a Black Lives Matter protest over the weekend.
Austin Chief Brian Manley says 28-year-old Garrett Foster was shot multiple times after he pointed an "AK-47 style" rifle at person who was trying to drive through the crowd.
Chief Manley says the other gunshots were likely from witnesses who shot at the driver as he was leaving.
That driver later called 911 about the incident and was interviewed by police but has not been arrested.
Manley said detectives are reviewing "precise actions" of those involved, investigators are coordinating with Travis County prosecutors, and the two people who fired shots have been released "pending further investigation."
Austin Police encourage anyone with video, photos or information about the incident to come forward.
