DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Following a three year investigation, Dallas Police officials have announced they have disciplined 22 officers who were previously part of the Vice unit.

Dallas Police Chief Reneé Hall disbanded the Vice unit in 2017 after she said she found inconsistencies and issues within the unit.

The investigation found accounting discrepancies, inadequate processing of evidence and a general lack of accountability.

Detectives and supervisors involved will not be charged with any criminal offenses after they admittedly replaced confidential funds with gambling winnings and failed to place evidence into the property room.

The 22 former Vice Unit members have been disciplined, ranging from a written reprimand to suspensions without pay.

The vice unit was reinstated in 2018, but none of the previous officers were allowed to return.
