Basketball great Nancy Lieberman got to know Emmett while she was coaching and he was playing in Big 3, a three on three basketball league that gained huge popularity over the last few years.
"We used to talk about how he wanted to just change kids' lives," says Lieberman. "And he had such a great mind and spirit."
One of the works of Nancy Lieberman Charities is to build "Dream Courts" to give youth safe places to play sports and even participate in academic programs. Emmett told Lieberman that his dream was to build one in south Oak Cliff.
