FORNEY (1080 KRLD) - The Forney ISD will hold in-person graduation ceremonies for students at Forney High School and North Forney High School on June 1st at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The district had previously announced plans to hold graduation for the class of 2020 at the Culwell Center in Garland later this summer.

"Seniors of 2020, you're about to graduate at one of the first events at Globe Life Field," Superintendent. Dr. Justin Terry said during the announcement at the new ballpark. "What an exciting opportunity to celebrate your experiences and your incredible achievements."

The capacity of the new stadium means the Forney ISD will not have to impose limits on tickets for students and will still be able to abide by the social-distancing rules in place on June 1st. "Your family gets to come," Dr. Terry said. "We're not having to limit the tickets like at lot of other places are right now."

District leaders are excited about the new venue for graduation. "This is why we do what we do as educators," said North Forney Principal Michael Jung, "to is celebrate you guys, to take care of you guys and to deliver on our promises. June 1st, I'm excited we get to enjoy this place...and it's all for you guys."

The Forney ISD will also offer students the chance to pick up their diplomas and have family photos taken on May 20th.
