FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - For the first time in a generation, a Fort Worth High School is going to the football playoffs.
Some of the players' parents were not even born the last time Northside High School made the post-season. That was 1979.
For these past four decades, the Steers football program has languished. But in the past five years, coach Joseph Turner has brought gradual improvement.
This year's squad finished 5-and-5 but won four of their last six games to earn a berth in the playoffs.
The Steers will take their program to the next level tonight, taking on Wichita Falls at the Fort Worth district's Farrington Field.
