Harris County now has a stay at home order due to coronavirus concerns.

Judge Linda Hidalgo says the order takes effect at midnight tonight and will last until April 3rd.

Hidalgo says, "We are following a simple model. By staying home, we are saving lives. We are flattening the curve of the virus. We are making sure we are not overwhelming our healthcare system and therefore our community as a whole."

She says essential businesses are exempt from the order. Churches and places of worship will operate online.

Parks will remain open. But, playgrounds will be closed.
