Texas Senator Ted Cruz has been added to President Trump's short list of possible Supreme Court nominees, should a seat open up while he is President.

Cruz issued a statement saying he is "grateful for the president’s confidence in me and for his leadership in nominating principled constitutionalists to the federal bench."

The President's list includes two other U.S. Senators inclulding Missouri's Josh Hawley, and Tom Cotton of Arkansas, along with several state and federal judges, a prominent lawyer and a U.S. ambassador.

The Trump campaign put out a similar list ahead of the 2016 election.
