Southern Methodist University in Dallas is raising its alert level for COVID-19 as the virus continues to spread on campus.
University officials review the number of cases of COVID-19 each week and make a determination on the restrictions that will be in place to combat the spread of the virus.
School officials have moved their operational level from 'moderate,' which did allow some policies to be relaxed, to 'high.'
With the new 'high' level, there are limitations on meeting sizes and enforcement of the rules on personal protective equipment.
School officials say a big factor in their decision was the growing number of COVID-19 cases on campus.
Students who do get the virus are being urged to self-isolate, and the the university is increasing the number of isolation beds that are available.
