The Southlake Department of Public Safety arrested 17-year-old Wyatt Chappel on Monday on several charges after officers found him at Carroll High School just after 3:30am.

Southlake Police had been dispatched to the location when the school's motion detector alarm was activated.

The responding officers found Chappel and arrested him after a brief chase.

Investigators found that someone had set off several fire extinguishers in the school, which caused extensive damage. They also say several windows and glass doors had been broken.

They estimate the total damage at more than $30,000.

Chappel has been charged with burglary of a building, criminal mischief and evading arrest.
