North Texas bar owners are among those state-wide planning to sue the state of Texas over the latest shutdown ordered by Governor Abbott.

In an email to members, the Texas Bar & Nightclub Alliance calls Abbott's decision "irresponsible and shameful."

TBNA president Michael Klein says the alliance "is taking the necessary steps to protect the rights of our members and their employees across the state who have been unjustly singled out by Governor Abbott."

Gov. Abbott approved a waiver Saturday that will allow restaurants and bars with a mixed beverage permit to sell mixed drinks to go and for delivery.

"Operating during this pandemic has proved an incredible challenge for all segments of the alcoholic beverage industry," TABC Executive Director Bentley Nettles said. "Opening up the ability for these businesses to sell mixed drinks to go will help ease the burden for many of these struggling businesses."
