LEWISVILLE (1080 KRLD) - The Bendt Distilling Company in downtown Lewisville has all but shut down in an effort to prevent spread of the coronavirus. And owner Natasha DeHart says that’s going to hit them. Hard. But it’s not going to stop them from lending a helping hand.“You know, all of us are watching the news,” DeHart said. “And I think we all kind of feel helpless right now.”DeHart and her employees turned that feeling of helplessness into action by  using their equipment to brew a different kind of alcohol: hand sanitizer. And they’re giving it away for free.DeHart’s paying out-of-pocket to produce the hand cleanser, which legally, she says they can’t call hand sanitizer.Still, the cleanser is over 70% alcohol and DeHart promises it gets the job done.People can pick up a bottle (one per person) Monday - Saturday starting at 10 a.m. DeHart only asks that people feeling sick ... stay away.
