DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Texas farmers are ready, to start growing hemp.

The so-called hemp bill was signed into law last June by Governor Greg Abbott authorizing the production, manufacture, retail sale and inspection of industrial hemp crops and products in Texas.

Dustin Shivers sells farm equipment and says it took awhile but even his grandfather, founder of his company, has started to accept the product.

"The stigma around the product is eroding. My grandfather has come around, and now they are selling CBD infused lotions, and this is the most conservative Iowa family." Shivers says.

He says all types of people, from seasoned farmers to those new to growing are interested.

State officials believe licenses could start to be issued by March.
