Based on the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), some Americans could get their shots to protect against COVID-19 infection before Thanksgiving.

In a letter to governors, CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield said states will receive vaccine permit applications "in the near future."

States also are being advised to be ready to begin giving the vaccine by Nov. 1.  Reports indicate local public health departments are being urged to draft their vaccination plans by Oct. 1.

Many wonder how the COVID-19 vaccine distribution process will work.

KRLD's Chris Sommer got an update from Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council President/CEO Stephen Love.
