AUSTIN (1080 KRLD)- The pandemic means this might be the most important year yet to get your flu shot Having the flu is bad enough and topping it off with Covid-19 would be much worse.
Dr. John Carlo with the Governor's Coronavirus Task Force says a flu shot greatly minimizes the chances you could get both infections at the same time. "If you have signs and symptoms of the coronavirus or the flu, because they're so similar, it's going to be really hard to figure out if you've got a flu infection or a coronavirus infection"
Carlo says getting vaccinated now should cover you through out the entire flu season. "I got mine last week, so a really important add that's going to lower the chance of getting the flu and the coronavirus at the same time."
He says there's plenty of flu vaccine available and no shortages.
