Fort Worth Council votes to name street Atatiana Jefferson Memorial Parkway

Last night, the Fort Worth City Council agreed to honor the memory of Atatiana Jefferson by changing the name of a street near where she lived and where she was fatally shot in her own home by a former Fort Worth police officer one year ago.

The stretch of East Allen-East Maddox Avenue between I-35W and Highway 287 will now be re-named Atatiana Jefferson Memorial Parkway.

Aaron Dean, the officer who shot her through a window in her own home, resigned. He was charged with murder and indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury.

Dean's trial has been delayed because of the Coronavirus.
