DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- A Dallas community activist who has served on the Dallas Citizens Police Review Board has chosen to have a bench trial in his felony family violence case. Dominique Alexander, 31, was arrested last year.

Alexander pushed, slapped and attempted to choke his girlfriend on April 15, 2019 according to the indictment in the case.  The indictment includes an enhancement that Alexander has a prior conviction of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury from 2016.

Alexander’s Dallas County trial before a judge is now scheduled for February 2, 2021.  While jury trials have continuously been delayed because of COVID 19 directives, the bench trial would not be affected since a jury is not necessary.

Alexander also faces a felony theft trial in Denton County, records show.  The trial is scheduled for January 25, 2021.
