DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- The smell of smoke hangs heavy over a South Dallas neighborhood where a home was gutted by fire this morning.

Just after 1 a.m. Dallas firefighters saw smoke from their firehouse on Elsie Faye Heggins near Crozier Street. Looking to the southwest, they saw the fire a quarter-mile away.

They rushed over and saw the fire chewing through a house on Lawrence Street. They made short work of dousing the flames but a lot of damage had already been done. There have been no reports of injuries.
