The City of Desoto’s Parks & Recreation Department is hosting the 4th Annual “Latino Heritage Virtual Concert 2020” in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. In the past, the event has been held at a local park with various performances, music and vendors. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the event, like many, has gone virtual. This coming Saturday, September 19th at 7 p.m. anyone interested in participating can view the event through the city’s Facebook page and YouTube Channel.
Daneen Anderson, the city’s Special Events Manager, spoke with KRLD’s Kristin Diaz about the excitement over a special performance from the Havana NRG Band.
In addition to the virtual event, Anderson says the city will also be recognizing local Hispanic businesses, influential people and also “fun facts” about the culture through their social media pages. She says there will be a special event held every Saturday starting September 19th through October 15th. This includes a socially distanced painting event that will allow participant to paint pictures related to the Hispanic culture.
