Fort Worth apartment fire forces dozens to evacuate

Fire crews are working to extinguish an apartment fire that’s torn through several people's homes.

The fire broke out around 10 this morning in a three story apartment building at 200 Henderson Street, near downtown Fort Worth.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered heavy fire in the attic, which eventually broke through the roof.

"There was a second alarm call," says Mike Drivdahl with Fort Worth Fire. "What that means is we bring additional resources. Whether we need more manpower, or we believe it's going to be an extended period of time."

Drivdahl says everyone was evacuated from the building, and so far there have been no reports of injuries.

"We will continue to work with Red Cross and the apartment complex here to make sure everyone's got somewhere to go who's been displaced," Drivdahl says.

No word yet on what caused the fire.
