NHRA crew chief killed in Parker County accident

A man run over and killed in Parker County earlier this week has now been identified as an Indiana man who was a well-known crew chief on the National Hot Rod Association drag racing circuit.

Eric Lane was killed Monday when he was struck by a car on Highway 180 in Mineral Wells.

The woman driving the car tells DPS investigators she saw a man lying on the highway but could not avoid striking him. No one knows why Lane was lying in traffic.

A statement from NHRA says Lane was crew chief on a team competing over the weekend at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis ahead of this weekend's Mopar Express Lane Spring Nationals in Houston.
