Dallas County is reporting 537 cases of COVID-19 and 20 more deaths from the virus today.

Hospitalizations from positive COVID-19 patients have increased 64 percent in the past three weeks, and the number of ICU patients has jumped 69 percent the past three weeks, according to county health officials.

Parkland Hospital nurse manager Dolores Diaz says parkland has 70 COVID patients now.

Dallas County health director Dr. Phil Huang says cooler weather may lead to fewer people outside. He says it will not be safe for kids to trick-or-treat this halloween.

Dr. Huang says the idea of COVID fatigue, with people getting tired of masks and restrictions, contributed to the increase, and wearing masks and social distancing can help avoid another round of shut-downs.
