On his first day in office, President Joe Biden signed a number of executive orders, one of which was to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord.
On Twitter, Texas Senator Ted Cruz said President Biden is "more interested in the views of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh."
Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto responded, saying "Here we go again."
Former President Donald Trump made a similar statement in 2017 when he announced plans to exit the agreement. "I was elected by voters of Pittsburgh, not Paris. I promised I wld exit or renegotiate any deal which fails to serve US interests"
In November of 2020, the United States' exit from the Paris Accord became reality.
