The Department of Public Safety says the ultralight plane crashed along Interstate 14 between Killeen and Harker Heights just after eleven this morning.

D.P.S. Sergeant Bryan Washko says the aircraft had taken off from nearby Skylar airport and landed in the highway median.

Sergeant Washko says, "What's unknown now if there was any distress call to the airport terminal. We're still trying to determine that."

Two men on the plane were taken to a hospital where they died. The name of the victims have not yet been released. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
