Two North Texas bars shut down for coronavirus guideline violations

State regulators are shutting down two North Texas bars for the next 30 days for violating the governor’s coronavirus operating orders

Ampersand in Fort Worth and The Whippersnapper in Dallas were found in violation and issued orders to close, according to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

TABC agents fanned out across the state last week checking compliance.  Out of 1,344 inspections, a half dozen violations were found.

“In most cases what we find in cases of violation are going to be failure to comply with social distancing so no maintaining that six foot distance between customers and between groups or businesses are allowing customers to exceed the 50 percent indoor capacity limit” said Chris Porter, spokesman for the TABC.

There have been 20,000 TABC inspections across the state since June with around 200 citiations and warnings.
