UNT plans to feed Thanksgiving meals to students to help avoid at-home-gatherings

DENTON (1080 KRLD)- With health officials asking Americans to forego the usual Thanksgiving holiday gatherings due to COVID-19, that has meant college students, missing out on the home cooked meal and all the leftovers they can take with them.

Well the University of North Texas is solving that problem. Dean of students Maureen McGuiness says UNT plans to feed about 11-hundred students.

They'll be able to pick up meals from the UNT food pantry curbside Monday thru Wednesday, just in time for Thanksgiving. The meal packs will include turkey, ham and other holiday staples.

The university says they also plan on doing the same thing for the winter break.
