Stone Temple Pilots will soon unwrap their first ever acoustic album, with Perdida arriving everywhere on February 7. The 10 track effort has been promised to be deeply personal and introspective, and it shines through in the video for lead single, “Fare Thee Well.”
The black and white clip manages to burst with feeling, racking the focus to reveal small delights and details that would be otherwise unnoticed. A plea for the little things that plays along with the band’s vulnerable verses, pouring it out over a nodding groove.
Perdida is the band’s 8th studio album, and it literally translate to “loss.”
“You have to live it to write it, and this record is a reflection of where we’ve been recently,” guitarist Dean DeLeo says in a statement. The somber state of an all-acoustic outing being the perfect vessel for real emotional honesty.
“I had to let myself be as vulnerable writing the lyrics as Dean and Robert were writing the music,” adds singer Jeff Gutt.
Stone Temple Pilots have shared that the album serves as more than just an emotional journey for the band, but also a musical one. The group incorporates instruments like the flute and alto saxophone into this fresh canvas they’ve decided to explore.
