The Rescue Pet Summer Olympics 2020 Are Underway! Wash your paws. Grab your camera. And send us your videos!

Encinitas, CA – Your Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s first ever “RCHS Rescue Pet Summer Olympics 2020” have begun! Show off your pets’ skills. It’s a completely safe, virtual pet Olympics complete with medals and an award ceremony for the winners.

RCHS spokesman John Van Zante says, “We’ve all seen videos of pets performing some pretty amazing things. The cat twisted like a pretzel. The dog flying through the air and into the pool. Bunnies doing ‘zoomies’ for no particular reason. Those are the kind of athletic feats we want to see in the Rescue Pet Summer Olympics.”

The categories are:

·     Swimming

·     Gymnastics

·     Track & Field

These are “virtual” Olympics. You don’t need to stand two Great Danes or 12 Tabbies apart. Just send in video of your pet performing (whether on purpose or by accident.)

·     Wednesday, August 5 at 11:59 Pacific Time is your last chance to enter.

·     Entries will be judged by some of San Diego’s favorite animal lovers on August 6 & 7.

·     Winners will be announced on Saturday, August 8.

·     A virtual award ceremony will be held on Thursday, August 13.  Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded.

There aren’t a lot of rules, but here are a few of them. Video must be between six and sixty seconds long. No prong collars, shock collars or inhumane training techniques. No business promotion. ONE video per category. Video entries may be used by official RCHS media platforms and events.

Kids can enter with approval from their parent or guardian. Remember, this is a family-friendly contest. Keep it clean and have fun!
