Carrot Bacon

As delicious as bacon is, it is full of saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium. The good news is there are a lot of bacon substitutes including carrot bacon!  If you are trying to incorporate more healthy snacks into your diet, this one may be worth a shot. Simply slice carrots into strips and use an air fryer or oven to dry them.  Ingredients include maple syrup, garlic and onion powder, paprika and liquid smoke. The thin strips are crunchy and the taste is similar to bacon.  A nice healthy treat in an instant!


  • 1 carrot sliced using a peeler into think strips
  • 1 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp. liquid smoke
  • ¼ tsp. garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp. onion powder
  • ¼ tsp. smoked paprika
  • ⅛ tsp. pepper

Preheat oven to 380ºF.Mix ingredients in a bowl and marinate the carrotstrips for a few minutes.Lay the stips on a non-stick baking sheet or lay them across a an oven-safe baking rack coated with nonstick spray to allow moer even cookingSet timer for 10 minutes. 5 minutes for an air fryer.Take out of theoven and let cool.  The strips will harden once they cool down.
