Cooking and baking has become more difficult as the result of coronavirus. With a trip to the grocery store taking more than just a few minutes and with many items out of stock, finding certain ingredients for your recipe can be a challenge. Fortunately, many ingredients can be substituted and swapped out for others with virtually no difference in the taste of food and perhaps resulting in a surprisingly delicious outcome. Where possible, make swaps within the same food groups. Proteins for proteins, veg for veg, or healthy fat for healthy fat. Minimize food waste and unnecessary spending, try to make swaps based around the foods you already have in your fridge. Herbs and spices can often be swapped for other similar ones and depend on our taste preferences. In general, these herbs and spice can be swapped out with each other. Basil, chives and parsley. Dill, marjoram, oregano and tarragon. Coriander, mint, lemongrass and Thai basil. Caraway, paprika and saffron. Finally cinnamon, cloves, ground ginger and nutmeg.
