Nevada records over 400 new coronavirus cases

State's test positivity rate drops below 8%

LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - Nevada reported 459 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, putting the total case number since the start of the pandemic to 293488.

There were 15 new virus-related deaths reported, making that number currently 4,957.

In Clark County, the Southern Nevada Health District added 349 cases, bringing the total number of cases since the pandemic's onset to 226,469. There have been 3,861 virus-related deaths (up 14).

Confirmed or suspected COVID-19 ICU hospitalizations in Clark County number 111 (up 3) with the number of people on ventilators at 69 (up 2).

Clark County continues to be included on a list of Nevada counties considered at an "elevated risk" for contracting Covid-19. Currently Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Esmeralda, Humboldt, Lander, Lincoln, Lyon, Storey, Washoe and White Pine counties are excluded from the "elevated risk" list.

Counties are considered an "elevated risk" if they meet two of three criteria — fewer than 100 average daily tests per 100,000 people in the county (255 for Clark County), more than 200 total cases per 100,000 people diagnosed and reported in the past 30 days (551 for Clark County), or a test positivity rate over two weeks of more than 8 percent when there are also more than 50 cases per 100,000 people (9.3% for Clark County).

Nevada's test positivity rate over the past 14 days is 7.9% (down .4%) with a 14-day rolling case average of 307 (down 7). The test positivity rate in Clark County was 8.9% (down .4%)
