PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Most Americans know the gist of the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness.”

Nowadays, we probably just associate it with tourism, school groups, and Fourth of July celebrations; a copy of a document that sits behind glass in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall.

But some tribulations of 1776 are not too far off from our own today.

Similar to the Founding Fathers, we find ourselves in an uncertain time in our history, but we are coming together through unpredictable and unresolved moments — the coronavirus pandemic, an economic downturn, civil unrest — and pushing forward nonetheless. 

So together, the Entercom Philadephia team — on- and off-air staff from KYW Newsradio, WIP Sportsradio, Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, 96.5 TDY, 98.1 WOGL, and B101.1 — read the Declaration of Independence aloud in its entirety.
