PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) —A variety show and benefit concert Thursday night will feature some of the biggest names in Philadelphia, all to support those on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

PHLove will feature headliners Daryl Hall, Questlove and Patti LaBelle, plus appearances by DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Diamond Kuts & Friends, Jerry Blavat, and many more to raise awareness and money for the PHL COVID-19 Fund

“The PHL COVID-19 Fund has raised about $16 million and gave grants of about $13 million,” explained Pedro Ramos, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Foundation.

The foundation, along with the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, launched the fund two months ago as a way to quickly disperse money to 400 organizations that are filling the cracks revealed during the pandemic.

“A lot of funds have gone for food and other supplies involved in just meeting needy people’s basic needs,” he said.

All of the proceeds from PHLlove — which airs from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday — will go toward the fund.

“These organizations still need help from all of us, whatever we can do,” Ramos added.

The concert will air on several local television stations, as well as KYW Newsradio and on RADIO.COM.
