PHILADELPHIA (WIP Sportsradio) —The Eagles will be without their No. 1 receiver on Sunday vs. the Detroit Lions as head coach Doug Pederson ruled DeSean Jackson out on Friday, during his press conference.

Jackson played only a handful of snaps in the team’s loss last Sunday to the Atlanta Falcons before leaving the game due to an abdominal injury he suffered in the first quarter. The loss of Jackson was a big one for the offense as they struggled throughout the game and only managed to score 20 points.

Pederson did not rule out either receiver Alshon Jeffery or tight end Dallas Goedert, an encouraging sign for their chances of playing on Sunday.

Head coach Doug Pederson announced that wide receiver DeSean Jackson will be out for Sunday’s game.

Jackson had a stellar debut with the Eagles in Week 1, totaling 154 yards and two touchdowns on eight catches in a win over the Washington Redskins. What he brought to the offense was clear in the win as he hauled in two 50-plus yard touchdowns. The Eagles had issues moving the ball in general, but especially down the field against the Falcons.

With a quick turnaround next Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers it is fair to wonder if Jackson might be on the sideline until Week 5 when the Eagles play the New York Jets at home.
