Love Your Park Week is usually a time when Philadelphians are encouraged to get out and enjoy their parks.
“During this COVID crisis, what we've seen is people really realizing how critical and essential public parks, open space and trails are to us,” said Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Commissioner Kathryn Ott Lovell.
She says over the next eight days, they'll have some special online programming for people to take part in for their digital Love Your Park Week.
“There will be a nature theme, we'll be doing some forest therapy. Mother's Day, we'll treat mom to a special virtual greenhouse yoga class. We'll celebrate the arts,” she added.
Ott Lovell says they're continuing to have Love Your Park week this year, because it's imperative to make sure people know what resources they have in their own backyard and how to use them.
“Quite frankly, it's going to be a long recovery phase, and we're going to need their help and support more than ever over the next few months,” she said.
