PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The 19th annual Hoops from the Heart basketball clinics are set for Martin Luther King Day across Delaware County.

Bobbi Morgan, head coach for women's basketball at Haverford College, helped start the clinics nearly two decades ago.

The clinics will be held at Haverford College, Neumann University, Cabrini University and Widener University for boys and girls between first and eighth grade.

“We're going to have four basketball clinics. They will be run by the men's and women's teams and coaches. We have youths come in and bring canned goods, and we do a two-hour clinic and all the proceeds go to the Community Action Agency.”

Over the years, Morgan said these clinics have raised roughly $125,000 for the agency since its inception.

“Which may not seem like a lot of money over that much time,” she noted, “but each year that money, what they are able to do with it, is amazing. They get people back on their feet. They help feed people at their shelters, so it's been a significant impact and we're grateful we've been able to help them.”

Registration for the clinics range from $20 to $30, depending on which one you attend.

“You can pre-register. We do take walk-ups, but we do prefer people to register ahead of time,” Morgan added.
