Man slips, impales himself on statue during Mummers Parade

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after impaling himself on a statue along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Just before 4 p.m. at Eakins Oval, police say the man climbed onto one of the statues, slipped, and impaled himself on the statue.

The man was transported to Hahnemann Hospital in unknown condition, although police say he was conscious and alert.
